ABOUT US

Helping Dartmouth entrepreneurs thrive

OUR MISSION

We support the Dartmouth community on the path to entrepreneurship with co-curricular education and experiences, startup funding resources, and networking opportunities.

OUR STRATEGY

We bridge innovation across campus

The Dartmouth entrepreneurial community is stronger together. By streamlining diverse resources and building community, we’re able to:

  • Foster innovation on campus beyond by attracting more entrepreneurial-minded students and faculty to Dartmouth.

  • Launch successful businesses by supporting Dartmouth entrepreneurs, be they students, staff or alumni.

  • Solve complex global challenges by strengthening innovative and entrepreneurial thinking on a local and global level.

OUR STORY

Supported by alumni

The Magnuson Center was established in 2018 through a generous gift from Allison and Rick Magnuson ’79.

In addition to the Magnusons’ gift, the center has received 26 gifts of $1 million from a group of alumni leaders in technology, venture capital, and private equity—creating the Dartmouth Founders Circle.

Today, the Magnuson Center serves as a hub, aggregating resources, advice, and networking opportunities. It spans several physical locations on campus, with Magnuson Central located in the Class of 1982 Engineering and Computer Science Center in the west end of campus.

WHO WE SERVE

We support students, faculty, and alumni.

Students

We believe creating hands-on opportunities to learn about entrepreneurship is critical for nurturing the next generation of global problem solvers, which is why supporting student founders is at the core of what we do.

Student founders who have a solid business idea can work with the Magnuson Center team to utilize an array of start-up support programs including grants, office hours, and accelerators.

Students with the seed of an idea can help develop their endeavor through pitch workshops, business planning resources, and mentorship opportunities.

Even if you only have an abstract interest in entrepreneurship, the Magnuson Center is here for you.

Faculty

The world can benefit from some of the great innovation that comes from Dartmouth faculty, and we’re here to help make that happen. Dartmouth faculty can utilize all Magnuson Center resources, including access to skilled Dartmouth interns to help move your endeavor along.

Dartmouth College and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth bring together some of the brightest minds in the world. We help you bring your research from the lab, to the marketplace, through our partnership with the Technology Transfer Office.

You’re an expert in your academic field of study; we’re here to supplement your knowledge with our expertise in entrepreneurship.

Alumni

The Magnuson Center aims to leverage Dartmouth’s rich alumni network to strengthen our entrepreneurial community.

Alumni with a start-up idea can participate in the Magnuson Center’s office hours, where we’ll share our expertise on launching a business.

Alumni founders can work with the Magnuson Center to hire a Dartmouth student or fund internship opportunities. We also help alumni connect with venture capital and grant funding.

If you are an established alumnus looking to invest in Dartmouth entrepreneurs, the Magnuson Center has multiple means of connecting you with start-ups through our Dartmouth Angels program.
